Total War has ruled the RTS scene for a while now, and the new addition to the series looks full of fantasy mayhem. Just check out the trailer Creative Assembly have just unleashed upon the world.

In the trailer we see a mighty battle, that Warhammer (the miniature game) fans will instantly recognise as a fight between the Kislev and the Daemons of Chaos. It features a rather angry Bloodthirster and an Ice queen with power that even Elsa would be envious of.

With a huge list of playable races in the past two titles, we are left with only a handful that haven’t been included in the roster. Thus far, only two have been confirmed. The ice warriors of Kislev, being a main feature of the trailer, will of course be there. Then we have the rather chaotic Daemons of Chaos, which we assume will be split into the forces representing the four Chaos gods – Nurgle, Khorne, Tzeentch and Slaanesh.

There’s also the speculation of a third playable force, in the form of Cathay, as the outro of the trailer shows a green dragon figure on the battle map. Judging purely from Warhammer lore, we can expect a force heavily influenced by the armies of ancient china, complete with serpentine dragons and warrior monkeys (yes, seriously).

And, I’m also throwing in a fourth speculation, as I am yet to see them in the Total War: Warhammer series – The Ogre Kingdoms should definitely be included in this one.

Having played the previous games for hours (a lot of hours), I’m excited for this addition. With the incredible structure of the Total War series in place, and the fusion of the fantasy world of Warhammer, this is sure to be another hit. Unfortunately, a specific release date is yet to be announced, but it is confirmed to be this year. Hopefully, we won’t be waiting too long. I’m mostly just looking forward to that polar bear cavalry…
